RPRA Unveils Expert-Verified Rankings of Business and Political Communication Telegram Channels

RPRA Unveils Expert-Verified Rankings of Business and Political Communication Telegram Channels

What sets these new rankings apart is their rigorous expert verification. A panel of 88 PR specialists analyzed 500 communication-focused channels against multiple parameters, resulting in two definitive rankings of the top 50, 20, and 10 most insightful and noteworthy channels in political and business communications.

The methodology was developed by RPRA experts in partnership with the Prognosis agency. An initial sample of 500 channels was compiled using keywords, filtered by performance metrics, and vetted for quality. The top 200 channels were then presented to the expert panel, who refined the list with their own recommendations and confirmed thematic relevance. Following the expert review, the channels were grouped into tiers:

  • TOP-10: The most popular and widely-read channels.
  • TOP-20: Highly recommended channels.
  • TOP-50: Other channels that received the highest expert scores.

This ranking serves as a valuable guide, reflecting the collective opinion of RPRA experts on the Telegram landscape for business and political communications. It will help professionals stay updated on the latest news, trends, and industry analysis, benchmark best practices, and discover new expert resources.

"When structuring the ranking, the working group followed a clear principle: the TOP-10 includes the most popular and widely-read channels, the TOP-20 includes recommended channels, and the TOP-50 includes all other channels that received the highest expert scores. This allowed us to identify channels that are popular among most experts while also highlighting lesser-known but highly-rated channels that experts recommend," commented Oleg Mukovozov, Member of the RPRA Executive Council and Head of the Working Group for the Rankings, and Partner at the Prognosis agency, which operated the ranking process.

"The number of Telegram channels on PR and political communications is constantly growing. It was time to bring order to this segment of the information field and help market participants navigate a sea of diverse resources. The fact that this project is led by the industry's main association, uniting nearly a hundred respected experts, maximizes the objectivity of the result and establishes it as a true industry-wide benchmark," noted Andrey Lapshov, Chairman of AKOS, CEO of Insiders communications company, and a member of the ranking's expert council.

"Today, nearly every public relations specialist building a personal or agency brand runs their own Telegram channel. The sheer volume and variety of these resources make it challenging to track the entire information flow that could be useful to a professional in our field. That's why I believe the RPRA ranking is a critical tool for curating one's own 'information menu' in the PR industry," commented Leonid Khomeriki, Member of the RPRA Executive Council, Founder of the PR Company content marketing agency, and author of the "Khomerichesky Piar" Telegram channel.

"In the Russian political segment of Telegram, there are many different channel ratings. They can be broadly divided into two groups: 'Authorial,' where the creator ranks channels based on their personal view, and 'Statistical,' based on a specific metric from a service like Tgstat. RPRA has proposed a more complex methodology that combines both approaches. However, through a system of weights, numerous objective indicators, and a large panel of evaluating experts, both subjective and purely mechanistic biases have been minimized. Is there room for improvement? Undoubtedly. But for a first iteration, this is a highly objective picture," noted Stanislav Koryakin, Political Consultant, Member of the Public Chamber of the RF, and author of the "Smysly i Strategii" Telegram channel.
